Description
A superior quality, daily moisturiser that is also an SPF 30+ sunblock. An exclusive advanced formula containing a physical sunblock (zinc oxide) in a tinted and environmentally protective silicone base. It is waterproof, PABA free and provides broad-spectrum, 100% UVA and UVB protection with an SPF 30+ rating. Applied daily, its non-greasy “feel” ensures that make-up or foundation applied over this product remains set in place. The usual touch ups are no longer required as Environmental Protector SPF30+ acts as a base until it is washed off. It stays on if you’re playing sports or swimming – it will only come off with soap and water.
This sunblock has a darkish tint, not suitable for fair complexions (Fitzpatrick Types I – III).
Application
Apply sparingly to face and throat in the morning. Used as a daily moisturiser and an environmental protector prior to applying make-up. This product does require shaking before using because it is a physical block (zinc) not a chemical sunscreen. For the best benefit use every day, even if staying indoors.

Benefits

Background
FaceWorks developed Environmental Protector SPF30+ in response to an obvious gap in the market, relating to sun protection specifically suited to the particularly harsh environmental conditions of the Southern Hemisphere. Although many make-up bases (foundations) have some sun protection, the degree of protection typically ranges between SPF8 and SPF15, and are frequently only UVB protective, not UVA and UVB. These products invariably originate from the Northern Hemisphere and are better suited to that environment.
In the Southern Hemisphere, the intensity of the sunlight, principally the UVA and UVB spectra, constitutes a serious health risk, positioning this area as “world leaders” in the incidence of skin cancers and malignant melanoma. In addition these same rays can cause severe photodamage and premature ageing to skin that is inadequately protected. Environmental Protector has been vigorously tested according to Australian Testing Standards.
The few sun protection products with SPF ratings high enough to be of value (i.e. an SPF greater than 30) are typically suitable for use on the body but with poor cosmetic performance. Because they are not specifically designed to be compatible with make-up, foundation tends to “slide off” these products and they are often comedogenic (acne causing). Environmental Protector SPF30+ is wonderful under make-up, and tends to “fix” the foundation while its exclusive formula ensures it is non-comedogenic.
The effects of sun exposure on the skin are cumulative and every time you step outside, you are exposed to the damaging effects of UVA and UVB regardless of the weather. There is no such thing as a “safe” sun tan. Environmental protection is vital every single day, regardless of the weather or time of year.
